TAP THAT

Canada’s booming craft brew industry is good news for one Maple Ridge, BC-based company. Chrislan Ceramics has makes between 1,000 to 1,500 beer taps per week. That’s more about double what they were making five years ago. Find out how they’re tapping into new opportunities. (See what we did there?)

GUESS WHO’S COMING TO SUMMER BEER FEST?!?

Cornwallite Mélanie Brulée is coming back home to rock the stage at Summer Beer Fest! She is fresh off the release of her Francophone album “Débridée” and the recording of the French Version of the  “Ontario Song” A Place To Stand  in honour of our 150th anniversary. BREWED SESSIONS: BEERS THAT ARE HOPPIN’

The professor is in. It’s time to learn about perfect-for-springtime beers with our very own beer guru, Jay Killoran.

WASTE NOT, WANT NOT

San Diego-based Stone Brewers made a batch of beer using treated wastewater. You read that right. The stuff that went down the drain from taps and toilets was treated and used to brew their Full Circle Pale Ale. According to Steve Gonzales, brewer of this unusual beer, it “some caramel notes, some tropical fruit notes. It’s a very clean-tasting beer.”

Note: This beer is no longer available. It was used as a demonstration of responsible water usage in drought-stricken Southern California.

NOT SO LONG AGO, IN A GALAXY FAR, FAR AWAY…

In Issue 3 of Brew Life, we covered the Great Bruges Beer Pipeline. This month, we’re bringing you a story about Belgian astronomers who found a new planetary system and named it after their favourite beer. Read about Trappist 1 (and its namesake) here.
