Do the prep, set a plan. This is the most obvious, but yet often overlooked. Restaurants release their menus beforehand, giving you ample time to do some research. Don’t just book your favorite place or based on the name/reputation, check every menu. Make sure you pick places that have something you like or that you always wanted to try. The week is set up to for you to discover new things, so live a little and try something new. Have dietary concerns? Give them a call and see what options they have.
Make the calls. Tables fill up fast during Cornwall Restaurant Week, so reservations are a must. This might come as news to you since we’re not an urban center, but it’s true. Don’t leave it up to chance either. As soon as you’ve made your choice book you’re your table. And while we’re at it, why book just one? Restaurants are offering the best dining deals in town. There’s never been a better time to eat out.
Lunch? Yes, please! First and foremost it’s cheaper ($10 per diner), which is a great deal for any meal. Second, lunch menus are specifically tailored to be quick and easy so it can fit into the hustle and bustle of your work week. If you’re looking to make the most out of this week, definitely plan to fit in a few lunches. You won’t regret it! And if you’re really pressed for time, call your order in ahead.
Go with the flow. That’s our way of saying “relax”. Our local restaurants have always worked hard to deliver an amazing dining experience. Obviously, this is a perfect time for them to impress and attract new customers, so it’s in their best interest to put their best foot forward and offer good service. So be patient, be friendly, be understanding, and communicate clearly that you want the Cornwall Restaurant Week menu. And please, don’t attempt substitutions… it’s a real pain in the you know what!
Play by the “foodie rules”.
- Rule #1, respect the reservation. It seems obvious, but it’s very important to repeat it. Be on time, it’s as simple as that. Are you going to be late? Let them know. Need to cancel? Let them know.
- Rule #2, tip well! While the meals are discounted, the staff still works just as hard. Show your appreciation and leave a generous tip.
